STEEP FILM SOCIETY

IN MEMORY OF

SIR ALEC GUINNESS

POST OMICRON - WE'RE BACK - (AGAIN)!!

Having had a quiet, yet fulfilling programme in the Autumn, we felt compelled to pause screenings when Omicron “Plan B” required us to ensure members wore masks. While members are of course welcome to do so, the trustees felt they should not impose such and so we missed a couple of films.
However, with restriction lifted on Thursday, we will be showing films of Friday, 28th Jan, with a “Burns Night” themed evening – more later.

Masks are not required but are optional.

Given current attendance, Trustees have accepted an offer from the Welcome Club, whereby they will show films under their licence.  The downside being we cannot publicly advertise the screenings, nor charge for the films, however we can charge for the “Theming” on such films.  Therefore we are going to be hiding the titles of themed films unless you are logged in.

Regular screenings will take place approximately every fortnight on Friday evenings.  You must be logged in to see details and buy tickets.

COVID 19 - Hasn't gone away

Despite the easing of most lockdown restrictions, Government advice is to return to normal with caution and over time. So the Trustees, in conjunction with the Village Hall have decided to continue to implement a few safety measures that we believe will both encourage members to return, while maximising the confidence of our membership. To that extent:

  • Masks are not required, but you are welcome to wear one

  • Attendance is limited to 50

  • Tickets must be bought in advance

  • No one will be able to “walk up” to buy tickets

  • The Bar and Ice Creams will be available

  • Sanitising gel will be around

  • Windows will be open as far as possible

Membership News

Steep Film Society has at times been a membership and a non membership society.  The reasons are various and in part was driven by the type and therefore cost of licences we have to buy for each film and by the availability of a volunteer to run the membership records.  By offering a website, where people can sign up and their membership is “managed” by the website makes life easier – as is the ability to offer different types of membership and different benefits for each type.  Having a membership allows us buy licences for a wider range of films.  However these sources prevent the Society advertising the screening to anyone but the membership (this doesn’t stop members inviting friends of posting on social media what they are going to watch – just we can’t!)
